What this tells an FX trader

Crypto trades around the clock, seven days a week, while the FX market closes from Friday evening to Sunday evening. A large weekend move in Bitcoin is one of the few live reads on risk sentiment before the FX week opens; check it against the market hours page on a Sunday.

For much of the past few years Bitcoin and Ether have traded as high-beta risk assets, often moving with the Nasdaq and against the dollar index. That link comes and goes. When it holds, a crypto sell-off tends to arrive alongside a firmer yen and weaker AUD and NZD; when it breaks, crypto is being driven by its own news (regulation, ETF flows, exchange events).

Most retail CFD brokers that list forex also list BTC and ETH, usually at much lower leverage. EU regulators apply ESMA's retail leverage limits, which allow at most 2:1 on crypto CFDs, so the margin is 50% of the position value; in the UK, crypto derivatives are not available to retail clients. Run the numbers in the margin calculator before assuming forex-style sizing.

FAQ

Why show crypto on a forex site?

Crypto trades all weekend while FX is closed, so it is a live read on risk sentiment before the FX week opens, and many forex brokers list BTC and ETH as CFDs. The page shows price and trend data only; it does not recommend trading crypto.

What does the change column measure?

The change since the last daily close at 00:00 UTC. Crypto has no closing bell, so a 00:00 UTC daily close is the usual reference. Other sites use a rolling 24 hours, so their figure can differ.

What leverage applies to crypto CFDs?

In the EU, regulators apply ESMA's retail limit of 2:1 leverage on crypto CFDs, a 50% margin. In the UK, the FCA bans the sale of crypto derivatives to retail clients. Professional clients and non-EU brokers may offer more; check your broker's terms.

How often do these prices update?

About every 5 minutes, every day of the week. Each row shows the time of its own quote. If no source has a recent quote, the row shows no price rather than an old one.
