The ForexFin trade journal imports your MT4/MT5 history by CSV or screenshot, scores every trade in R, and lets you tag why you got in and why you got out. On Trader it also flags revenge re-entries and size creep from your own timing, and writes weekly, monthly and lifetime retrospectives. Your broker's profit/loss stays authoritative.
A journal is only worth keeping if it answers one question: is this strategy actually making money, and where? ForexFin is built to answer it without spreadsheet busywork.
Drop a CSV export from MT4, MT5, cTrader or most brokers and review every row before it's saved — parsed in your browser, no upload. No CSV? Trader-plan screenshot import reads your history straight from an image. Your broker's reported P/L is kept as the result.
Each trade is scored as a multiple of what you risked, so a EUR/USD scalp and a gold swing are finally comparable. Win rate, profit factor and expectancy update live, and your equity curve grows from a starting balance you set.
The Trader analytics break your P&L down by setup, pair and session and chart your R-multiple distribution — so you can see which setup carries the account and which one quietly bleeds it, then trade more of the first and less of the second.
P&L tells you what happened. Your tags and your timing tell you why. The journal keeps two things apart and never adds them together: what you tagged, and what the rules detected.
Five entry intents — Planned setup, System signal, Impulse, Revenge, Chased — and five exits, from Target hit to Moved stop. The tag matrix shows trades, win rate, net P&L and average R per tag, so a leak has a number on it. Untagged stays untagged; “Mark remaining as on plan” tags the rest in one click.
Flags from timing and size, per account: a re-entry within 10 minutes of a closed loss, a position 1.5× your usual size on that instrument after a loss, four or more opens in an hour at three times your normal pace, a loss beyond 1.4× your planned risk. The ghost curve shows your equity without the entries you tagged off-plan. A flag is a prompt to look, not a verdict.
A short written review of a week, a month or your whole journal: a summary, the leaks with the trades behind them, what went to plan, and questions about your own trades. Every figure is checked against your stats before you see it; if one doesn't match, you get the stats instead. It describes, it doesn't advise. Unlocks at 6 tagged trades in a week, 12 in a month, 30 overall.
Opened a trade within 30 minutes of one of your own price alerts firing? The journal marks it from alert and offers System signal as the entry tag, one click to confirm. Want to see the tags and flags first? Load the sample week — no account needed.
Trade a personal account and a prop-firm challenge? Keep each broker account under one login and switch the whole workspace between a single account and all of them aggregated. The equity curve, stats and calendar follow your selection, and every import lands in the account you choose. Detection always runs per account, so copy-traded twins never flag each other. Up to ten accounts free; unlimited on Trader.
How many lots to trade so a stop-out costs only your planned risk — the number your journal scores against.
R-multiple, pips at risk and reward, and the breakeven win rate for any entry, stop and target.

Yes. Logging trades, entry and exit tags with the tag matrix, your equity curve, the daily P&L calendar, CSV import, and tracking up to ten broker accounts are all free with a no-card account. The optional Trader plan (€5/month, first 30 days free) adds tilt detection, the ghost equity curve, written retrospectives (week, month, lifetime), the full edge analytics — P&L by setup, pair and session, plus the R-multiple distribution — and screenshot import.
Yes. Export your history as CSV from MT4, MT5, cTrader or most brokers and drop it in — it's parsed in your browser and you review every row before anything saves. Your broker's reported profit/loss is kept as each trade's result. On Trader you can also import from a screenshot when no CSV is available.
An R-multiple is a trade's result expressed as a multiple of what you risked. Risk 1% and make 2% and that's +2R; a full stop-out is −1R. Scoring every trade in R makes results comparable across pairs and sizes, so your average R — expectancy — tells you whether the strategy has a real edge. The risk:reward calculator shows the R on a setup before you take it.
It can flag the pattern from timing and size. On Trader, ForexFin flags a trade opened within 10 minutes of a closed loss in the same account, and a position at least 1.5× your usual size on that instrument taken right after a loss. You can also tag an entry as Revenge yourself; tagged and detected counts are always shown separately. Detection is in beta while the thresholds are tuned on real journals.
Trader users can have a short review written by Claude for a week, a calendar month or their whole journal, once it has 10, 20 or 30 closed trades with entry and exit tags: a summary, leaks with the trade numbers behind them, what went to plan, and questions about their own trades. Every figure is checked against your computed stats before it's shown; if anything doesn't match, you see the stats only. It gives no trading advice, and it's in beta.
Yes. Keep several broker or prop-firm accounts under one login and switch the workspace between a single account and an aggregated view of all of them. Your journal is tied to your own account and is never sold or shared. ForexFin does not sell signals or place trades — the tools are educational. CSV import is parsed in your browser. Screenshot import, automatic CSV column matching and the retrospectives send only what they need to our AI provider, Anthropic, and only when you use them. See our privacy policy.
